March 2-6, Naomi & I had the special privilege to attend, as guests, the 2009 SEALINK Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The focus of the conference was “Reaching the Unreached”. There were a total of 11 SE Asia nations represented. They were Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Timor Leste, Brunei and the Philippines. But there were people there from all over the world. I met folks from Ghana (Africa), Brazil (South America), USA, Canada & Australia. Within the11 countries that were represented there were a total of 642 Least Reached People Groups. These were men and women of high profile from our perspective. Men who write the books and statistics in regards to unreached people groups across the whole world. I must confess that I was greatly challenged by the burden these dear Christians have to see the unreached brought to Jesus Christ. My heart thrilled in this but at the same time my heart was somewhat burdened. I would to God that our Anabaptist people would rise up also and share the same passion and burden for the unreached people. Lord, burn in our hearts, from your Word, the passion you have for the nations to come to Jesus Christ. We have so much to offer as Anabaptist people with a faith and practice that glorifies God thru Jesus Christ. One very high profile brother (who well knows the Mennonites) told me that God wants to bring the Mennonites along to share in God’s heart passion for the unreached.
Some of the key words at the conference were networking and partnership. Their theory is that the task to reach the unreached is far larger then one particular denomination. Therefore the church must network and partnership as a body to accomplish the task God has given the church. This has tremendous potential to be an open door of opportunity for MTM. Open doors to teach the all things of Jesus Christ as a means to equip the church of Jesus Christ as a purified, sanctified Holy vessel that God can flow through to empower to reach the unreached for Jesus Christ. In many ways we feel like we are only seeing a very small portion of the larger picture of where God is going with MTM. Please do pray for us. Thank you.
Praying For The Unreached Peoples Of SE Asia
February 23-28, 2009 was the annuel GTO/IGo missionary retreat. Gathered at Lanna Resort, near Chiang Mai, Thailand, were Anabaptist missionaries from Thailand, Bangladesh, China, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar and India. Our theme for the week was “Strengthened with all Might According to His Glorious Power”. There were three sessions taught on “The Ministry of The Holy Spirit”. Truly this was a very special time of spiritual refreshing and renewal as well as just fellow shipping together with other missionaries with like minded passions and purposes in Christ Jesus. There were two major highlights of the week. The first one was a precious visitation of Gods Spirit Thursday noon as we all recognized our utter dependency of Gods Holy Spirit to empower us for ministry for His glory. The other highlight was communion and feet washing Friday morning. What a great joy and privilege was ours to share together in this way and be encouraged and strengthened to move out and and reach the unreached for Jesus Christ.
